Social capital accumulation and effects at a local level: evidence from Latvia
On September 27, Guido Sechi (Ph.D., University of Latvia), took part in the "Culture Matters" research seminar with the report on "Social capital accumulation and effects at a local level: evidence from Latvia".
The seminar has outlined the results of original research carried out by the presenter in the domain of micro-level social capital accumulation and effects in the Republic of Latvia.
In particular, the following dynamics was outlined: a) the impact of social capital dimensions on knowledge and creativity; b) generalized trust accumulation and impact on personal identity; c) the impact of social capital on knowledge exchange in mixed physical-virtual communities of practice.
Different trends along geographical (urban / rural), ethnic, and socio-demographic lines was outlined. Features of social capital in Latvia and comparison with Russia was discussed.
