XII Summer School of the Center for Sociocultural Research "Development of cross-cultural research design"
The XII Summer School of the Center for Sociocultural Research "Development of the design of cross-cultural research" was held for undergraduates, graduate students and research and teaching staff, which was held this year in Zvenigorod from June 26 to July 1.
The school began with lectures by Anastasia Batkhina, devoted to the problem of intergroup and intercultural conflicts. Listeners were presented with the results of the latest research on methods of conflict prevention, mechanisms and dynamics of reconciliation of conflicting parties in post-conflict conditions.
In the following days, under the guidance of teachers Daria Vasilievna Maltseva and Stanislav Pavlovich Moiseev, invited from the international laboratory of applied network analysis of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, school participants had the opportunity to delve deeper into the analysis of social networks. As part of the development of the topic, not only lectures were offered, allowing one to become familiar with the basic principles of this approach, but also practical exercises, as a result of which employees and students gained experience in working in a specialized program for analyzing and visualizing network data Pajek. The students were very inspired by the possibilities of this new type of analysis and expressed a desire to continue to develop their skills in working with network data, as well as to apply the acquired knowledge and skills to conduct research in their areas of scientific interest. As a result of fruitful sessions and vibrant discussions, colleagues from the Center for Sociocultural Research and the Laboratory of Applied Social Analysis expressed their readiness for further cooperation.
Considerable attention within the school was also paid to the planning and development of ideas and projects of CSKI employees for the coming years. During group work, meetings and brainstorming sessions under the leadership of the Center’s director, Nadezhda Mikhailovna Lebedeva, school participants identified promising areas for further scientific research. This was also facilitated by the speech of IP RAS Professor Timofey Aleksandrovich Nestik on the topic “Social psychology of the future: promising areas of research.”
New scientific contacts, identified areas of work, as well as knowledge and skills acquired as part of participation in the summer school are extremely valuable for the further successful activities of all school participants and employees of the Center for Sociocultural Research.
