Researchers of ILSCR on XIII April International Academic Conference
XIII April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development of National Research University Higher School of Economics took place on 3-5 April in Moscow. Researchers of the International Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research took an active part in the section "Culture and Society”.
The head of the laboratory Nadezhda Lebedeva , together with Vladimir Magun, was the moderator of the section "Culture and Society", and was a session moderator of "Identity, religion and migration"; co-head of the laboratory Peter Schmidt was a session moderator of "Innovations in sociocultural context: theoretical models and empirical findings"; senior researcher Alexander Tatarko was a session moderator of "Social capital as a predictor of social and economic systems"; trainee researcher Olga Pavlenko was a secretary of the section. The ILSCR researchers presented the following reports at the conference:
"An integrated theory of creativity and innovation" (P. Schmidt). The report raised the problem of existence of disparate theories of creativity and innovation, and highlights the first steps of the author to create an integrated theory by constructing a multilevel model. “Implicit theories of creativity and innovations: intercultural differences” (N. Lebedeva). The report touched on the cultural conditioning of creativity and innovation. It was noted that in the West the indispensable attributes of innovation are creativity, novelty, originality, focus on self-expression, while in the East any innovation is understood as an interpretation of an existing tradition. The author presented the results of cross-cultural study of innovation and creativity views of Russians, the representatives of the North Caucasus and Tuva.
“Relation between social capital and innovative behavior” (E. Osipova, N. Lebedeva). The report presents a theoretical and an empirical model of the relationship of individual values, social capital and attitudes towards innovation. Ekaterina Osipova presented the results of empirical research in the Central, Far East and the North Caucasus federal districts.
“Relation between social capital and monetary attitudes” (A. Tatarko). The results presented in the report confirmed the hypothesis that the higher the social capital, the more less are the negative (by its sense) monetary attitudes (retention, inadequacy, security and power). Alexander Tatarko postulated that the negative association between monetary attitudes and individual level of social capital suggests that, when social capital decreases, people try to compensate by accumulating financial capital. “Interrelation between acculturation strategies of migrants and their psychological well-being” (Z. Lepshokova). Zarina Lepshokova presented the results of her dissertation on the relationship between acculturation strategies of immigrants in Moscow and the North Caucasus and acculturation expectations of the host population and psychological well-being.
“The role of civic identity and attitudes toward immigrants in economic believes of Russians: an empirical model” (L. Grigoryan). The report presents the results of large-scale study of ILSCR in several regions of Russia. It discovered the positive relation of patriotism and negative relation of nationalism with positive attitudes toward immigrants.
“Differences between values and economic attitudes in residents of Russian regions” (O. Pavlenko). The report was devoted to the comparison of individual values, economic views and economic attitudes among residents of Moscow, Bashkortostan, Siberia and the North Caucasus.
“The study of socio-cultural context and motivation of health behavior” (E. Osipova) within the section “Development of Healthcare System”. Ekaterina Osipova presented the results of her dissertation on "Socio-cultural differences in motivation of health-saving behavior" on example of students from Russia and Canada .
