A review of current trends in the development of future leaders: cross-cultural studies of leadership

The regular seminar of the International Scientific-Educational Laboratory of Socio-Cultural Research “Culture matters” took place on 23th September. The lecture was delivered by Meena Surie Wilson (PhD, Senior Enterprise Associate, CCL), a member of the research team of the international consulting company CCL (Center for Creative Leadership), known worldwide for its leadership development programs. Meena Surie Wilson made a presentation "Development of future leaders today from the standpoint of China, India, Singapore and the United States". Another short report at the seminar was made by Regina Eckert (PhD, Senior Research Associate, CCL EMEA). Her theme was also associated with cross-cultural psychology: "The Importance of Expectation-Perception Fit for Leadership Effectiveness across Cultures".

Professor Anu Realo (Department of Psychology, University of Tartu) made a presentation “The cultural dimension of tightness - looseness: some recent applications” at the scientific seminar of the International Laboratory of Socio-Cultural Research on 21st September. She presented results of the research conducted in 33 countries.

Cross-cultural Studies of Autonomy and Self-determination of Human Behavior

The chief researcher of the International Laboratory of Socio-Cultural Research, Associate professor of Department of Psychology in Saskatchevan University PhD Valery Chirkov presented his work on 31st May within the Laboratory research seminar. The presentation “Cross-cultural Studies of Autonomy and Self-determination of Human Behavior” was devoted to the results of the research project “Parent and Teacher Autonomy support in Russian and US adolescents”.

Factors of cooperative behavior

The Head of the Laboratory for Experimental and Behavioural Economics, Associate professor of ICEF PhD Alexis Belianin made a presentation “Factors of cooperative behaviour in experimental games” within the scientific seminar on 12th May. Besides the research workers of the International Scientifical-Educational Laboratory of Socio-Cultural Research and the guests of the seminar the research workers of the Laboratory of Comparative Social Studies from St. Petersburg took part in videoconference.
