In the 4th issue of the 22nd volume of the International Psychology Bulletin was published a review of the book "Changing Values and Identities in the Post-Communist World" edited by N.M. Lebedeva, R. Dimitrova and J. W. Berry.

Exploring the Link Between Culture, Memory and Olfaction

On October 2, the HSE International Scientific-Educational Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research held a regular seminar from its Culture Matters series entitled ‘The scents of Christmas past – the relationship between memory and olfaction.’

VIII Summer School "Design of Cross-Cultural Study"

18 - 21 June 2018 in Kolomna near Moscow there was the VIII Summer School "Design of Cross-Cultural Study", organized by the International laboratory for socio-cultural research, Expert Institute, Higher School of Economics. The teachers of the school were the leading foreign researchers with a world name: Fons van de Vijver (PhD, Professor, Tilburg University, IL SCR, HSE), Klaus Boehnke (PhD, Deputy head, IL SCR, HSE; Professor, Jacobs University, Bremen) and Andreas Alif Hajar (PhD, Professor, University of Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette).

Changing Values and Identities in the Post-Communist World

This book offers a comparative analysis of value and identity changes in several post-Soviet countries. In light of the tremendous economic, social and political changes in former communist states, the authors compare the values, attitudes and identities of different generations and cultural groups. Based on extensive empirical data, using quantitative and qualitative methods to study complex social identities, this book examines how intergenerational value and identity changes are linked to socio-economic and political development. Topics include the rise of nationalist sentiments, identity formation of ethnic and religious groups and minorities, youth identity formation and intergenerational value conflicts.

On April 11, at the XVIII April international scientific conference on the problems of development of the economy and society, International Research and Training Laboratory of Socio-Cultural Research organized a session "Value Transmission in Different Cultures", and laboratory staff participated in other thematic sections.

May 30th - June 1st the III International Research Conference "Culture in society, between groups and across generations", organized by the International Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research at the Expert Institute of the Higher School of Economics took place in Moscow.

Participation in international scientific conference in Smolensk

On May 27-28, ILSCR staff members Nadezhda Lebedeva, Alexander Tatarko, Zarina Lepshokova, Victoria Galyapina, Marina Kotova, Dmitry Dubrov and Maria Drobovtseva took part in the Fifth international scientific conference "Theoretical problems of ethnic and cross-cultural psychology".

Culture and society in focus (presentation of ILSCR)
